Viagra is ingested in pill
form and is absorbed into the blood stream within 30-60 minutes.
The active substance in Viagra is sildenafil. Viagra is a blue
film-coated tablet in a rounded-diamond shape. It belongs to
a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors
and works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis allowing
more blood flow when one is sexually aroused, thus helping to
achieve and maintain erection. Viagra does not cause erection
by itself. Since Viagra enhances a naturally occurring process,
it is only effective after sexual stimulation. You must be sexually
aroused in order for it to work.
Normal dosage for Viagra is 50mg one hour prior to sexual activity.
Viagra should not be taken more than once in any 24-hour period
and dosage should not exceed 100mg.
Viagra remains in the bloodstream for approximately 8 hours
after ingestion. |
