Steroids Should Never Be Used

steroidsThe use of steroids among those who build their muscles and improve their performance in the playing field is an issue we have read in dailies and seen on television. The practice seems to be prevalent and, thus, there is a need to continually educate the general public on its unfavorable effects.

If you want to hit the gym and you are considering consuming steroids as a supplement, think again. Although it will help you develop your biceps, you might suffer some serious consequences in the long run.

Leads to Imbalance of the Hormones

Steroids can produce hormonal imbalance in the body. Steroid use restrains the natural levels of testosterone, while it shoots up oestrogen levels. More often than not, males who are into steroids find their breasts getting enlarged and they lose hair, leading to baldness. For females, on the other hand, their voices become lower than normal and some body hair, including facial hair, grow longer and thicker than usual.

Causes Sterility

If you want to have children someday then you might want to revisit your plan of taking steroids. Those who take steroids suffer impotence. The use of steroids shrinks the male testicles and reduces the production of hormones, therefore, decreasing sperm development. It also impedes achieving an erection and diminishes sexual performance.

Triggers Diseases and Health Problems

While steroids can make you feel strong and healthy, it can also destroy your other organs. Continuous use of steroids, especially in high doses, can lead to heart ailments, internal bleeding, cancer, stroke, viral infections, and liver problems. Several cases of young healthy individuals who suddenly expire because of recurrent use of steroids have been discovered by researchers.

Affects the Mind

When you take steroids for a longer period of time, you will find certain changes in your mood. You get more irritable and aggressive. Steroid use can also cause depression and delusion. Those who are affected by steroids exhibit what they call as “roid rage” or excessive violent tendencies. An American Journal of Psychiatry study revealed that out of the steroid users they included in their research, 12% showed psychotic signs while 22% displayed full disturbing indications.

There are so many other better options available to choose if you want to boost your workout such as Nitric oxide (NO) supplements. These are way healthier and while they will not give you as good results as steroids, they do provide some good results.
